Configuring and using 2 sound cards

Hi all

I'd like to run all my audio (apart from Jaws) through my soundblaster live sound card, and I would like to run Jaws through my on board sound card, for quite a number of reasons.
Is there anyone who could tell me how to "route" jaws to the other sound card without all the other audio stuff following it as well?

Thanks for any help.

FS are probably better at explaining it than I am, so a link is
Here.

Here's what you do. 1. Using Windows Explorer, locate the folder containing the program files for the version of JAWS you are running. For example, for JAWS 7.0 this would
be C:Program FilesFreedom ScientificJAWS7.0
2. Now locate the file called jfw.ini and open it by pressing enter. It will open in notepad.
3. Within this file, you will find the following lines:

Block quote start

Synth1Name=eloq
Synth1LongName=Eloquence for JAWS
Synth1Driver=eloq
Block quote end

4. Below these lines, paste a line such as
Block quote start

Synth1Port=Sound Blaster Audigy
Block quote end
5. The Soundblaster Audigy example is the name of the sound card you would prefer to use.
The text after the = sign in the Port line comes from Control Panel/Sound & Multimedia/Audio tab It must be one of the entries that can be chosen for Preferred
Playback device.

6. Now save and close the file and restart jaws. Jaws should now run on your internal soundcard.

To ensure success in this endeavor, set the internal soundcard as your preferred/default playback and recording device from within windows, then check the "use only preferred devices" box.

The only time I've fond that necissary Jim was when I already had the machine running and plugged the soundcard in. Jaws would still switch to the external card and I had to restart it. Thanks for pointing that out!

No problem Scott. With windows being what it is in terms of crazy bugs and unexplained phenomena, I thought it necessary. lol
